Frieze New York, May 4-6

Location: Randall’s Island Park

The lowdown: Introducing a fresh layout, new curators, and programs, Frieze New York 2018 brings together more than 190 galleries from 30 countries, showcasing the world’s most significant artists, a series of talks, and the city’s most talked about restaurants, all in a bespoke structure in Randall’s Island Park.

TEFAF New York Spring, May 4–8

The lowdown: For the second year in a row, TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair) Maastricht will present 90 galleries, showcasing art and design from the 20th century through today.

Art New York, May 3–6

Location: Pier 94

The lowdown: Art New York, presented by Art Miami, returns to Pier 94 offering noteworthy and fresh works by important artists from the contemporary, modern, post-war and pop eras, featuring paintings, photography, prints, drawings, design and sculpture. The 2018 edition will see over 85 international contemporary and modern galleries from 30 countries come together to represent over 1,200 artists.

1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, May 4–6

Location: Pioneer Works

The lowdown: 1-54 New York returns for its fourth edition at Pioneer Works, Brooklyn between the 4 – 6 May 2018. In this fourth edition, 1-54 will present 21 international exhibitors, the artworks of over 60 artists from Africa and its diaspora, alongside an extensive experiential programme of Special Projects and 1-54 FORUM programme of talks curated by Omar Berrada.

Fridge Art Fair, May 2-6

Location: NU Hotel, 85 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY

The lowdown: Fridge Art Fair is pleased to announce its return to Brooklyn for the 6th NYC Edition of the Fair, with a theme of desserts. Hosted once again by the NU Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn, this year Fridge features a tribute to David Bowie coinciding with the exhibition in residence at the Brooklyn Museum.

Salon Zürcher, April 30-May 6

Location: Zürcher Gallery, 33 Bleecker Street

The lowdown: Zürcher Gallery is once again hosting this mini fair with six participating art spaces from Paris, Brussels, and New York.

Superfine! Art Fair, May 2-6

The lowdown: The second edition of Superfine! NYC touches down in the Meatpacking District on May 2. 78 international art galleries, solo projects, and collectives bring their unique perspectives to New York’s top emerging art fair.

The Other Art Fair, May 3-6

Location: Brooklyn EXPO Center, 72 Noble Street

The lowdown: The Other Art Fair Brooklyn runs biannually in Spring and Fall in the creative heart of New York at Greenpoint’s Brooklyn Expo Center. The Fair returns for their third edition and showcases 130 talented independent and emerging artists, each hand-picked by a committee of art world experts.

Moniker, May 3-6

Location: Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse

The lowdown: Moniker Art Fair will call Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse in Brooklyn home from May 3 through May 6. This will be the first international outing for the fair, which has for the past nine years built a reputation in London. The list of exhibitors includes 14 installations by solo artists and 14 galleries from around the world.
