Attention Hamptons art aficionados! The fifth edition of Art Southampton, the premier modern, contemporary and design fair in the Hamptons, will return to the grounds of Nova’s Ark Project (60 Millstone Rd, Bridgehampton, NY) this upcoming weekend, July 7th to 11th. Presented by Art Miami, the annual fair will feature over 70 prominent international galleries and showcase tens of millions of dollars’ worth of the finest museum quality art, sculpture, and photography from the 20th and 21st centuries. The fair also will highlight some of the East End’s most prolific past and present artists.
The excitement begins on Thursday evening with a VIP Preview to benefit the Parrish Art Museum and Southampton Hospital, sponsored by Christie’s International Real Estate. This exclusive event will provide prominent collectors, curators, art advisors, architects, designers, and decorators the opportunity to acquire the finest blue chip modern and contemporary works of art from the Post-War and Pop eras, with a focus on design and functional art. During the opening night preview, Academy Award winner and acclaimed artist Adrien Brody will present his second series entitled Hooked, featuring colorful, vibrant fish, and the exhibit encourages viewers to find the light in the darkness.
In addition, Shark Tank host Kevin O’Leary will be on hand to discuss his contemporary photography exhibition Irreconcilable Images, presented by Gallery Valentine. Sales of O’Leary’s photographs in the curated installation will benefit the Perry J. Cohen Foundation and aspiring Teenage Entrepreneurs.
Friday evening, New York Academy of Art’s President David Kratz and Brooke Shields will co-curate the exhibition Call of the Wild. Together they will host a special cocktail reception and discuss the alumni’s paintings, prints, and sculptures themed around the animal kingdom and the natural world.
The One Art Nation Symposium will bring together leading advisors, dealers, curators, critics, and artists, including Bruce Helander, Louis Meisel of Louis K. Meisel Gallery, Nico Kos Earle, Phillip Klein of Deloittte’s Art & Finance, Stephen Schindler and Katherine Wilson-Milne of Schindler Cohen & Hochman LLP to speak on a range of topics including how to build, maintain and protect one’s collection. Talks are complimentary with fair admission and run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Award winning LaGuardia Design, in partnership with Marder’s, will design the Art Southampton Sculpture Garden and main entrance of the pavilion. LaGuardia Design actively pursues an interest in how elements of the native landscape, existing topography, and neighboring influences help define the character of each site and look to unify the landscape into a cohesive bond by firmly connecting architecture and site.
