It may have been a slow and rocky start, but the art world and Instagram are finally having the love affair we always knew would happen. While the “will-they-won’t-they” kept us going for a while, it is finally time to commit to following some quality art world Instagram accounts and begin curating your own Instagram art collection. Here are our recommendations:

The Director of MoMA PS1 and Chief Curator at Large at MoMa is a follow no-brainer. Biesenbach has his finger on the pulse of the contemporary art world, and his Instagram feed is your inside look. He’s also been doing incredible work for the island of Puerto Rico and Hurricane Maria efforts.

This Lower East Side gallery Lyles and King, is an essential follow for those who want to stay on top of the emerging NYC art scene but don’t want to be inundated with a constant stream of images. The gallery posts a mix of art images and “day in the life” gallery snaps that always keep things fresh.

The social media expert and art enthusiast Susi Kenna, is known for her blog and nail art, but she is also an avid Instagrammer whose excellent eye makes for a fantastically curated Instagram feed.

The UK-based artist Hattie Stewart, has certainly made a name for herself over the past year. If you are a fan of her work, you will not be disappointed with her feed. Stewart is continuously posting her new pieces and collaborations.

If you have any interest in art that focuses on social justice and public art, Creative Time is worth a follow. The company which strives to create art that fosters social progress is constantly updating their feed with updates on what is going on in the public art world.

Looking for a glimpse into the life of an art world heavy-weight? As the founder of Baibakov Art Projects, the Russian native Maria Baibakova’s insta feed is your ticket to a view from the top.

If you are looking to mix things up a bit style-wise, then Print All Over Me is the feed for you. The company which collaborates with designers to print awesome designs on pieces of clothing is always updating its feed with its new inspirational designs.

The instagram account of WATTS, Founder of LVRS, is dedicated to featuring the work of both seasoned artists and newbies. Having started the account to affect the quality of the content on Instagram directly, @love.watts runs on a curated selection of submissions from artists who hope to appear on the popular feed.

This one seems like a no-brainer. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years, you are probably already following Ai Weiwei, but just in case you doubted the artist’s instagram creditability, here is your reassurance that he is worth a follow.

 

 

12. @artfullyawear

The Instagrammer and blogger is dedicated to breaking the barriers of art and style. Her feed is filled with fantastic examples of the blurred lines between the two art forms.
