Last Thursday, June 14, 2018, the High Line hosted its first-ever Hat Party. The new event drew inspiration from ball culture and the clubs and parties that inhabited the Meatpacking District and Chelsea. The evening began with cocktails on the High Line at the Diller-Von Furstenberg Sundeck and in the Chelsea Market Passage. Guests were greeted with performances from Cellist Melody Giron, and Kate Kay Es + Cole Ramstad Live Band.

At 9 pm, guests participated in a contest for the best, most creative, hat judged by Alan Cumming, Aki Sasamoto, Florent Morellet, Charles Renfro, NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver, and Vi Vacious and Acid Betty from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The evening included food by BITE New York and custom cocktails curated by The Standard, High Line and concluded with a set from DJ Mia Moretti. More than 600 people attended the High Line Hat Party to celebrate the open and inclusive spirit of the High Line.
