Yesterday, September 12, 2018, Frieze announced the 68 participating galleries and a new curator for the inaugural edition of Frieze Los Angeles, which will open at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood from February 14- 17, 2019.

The new annual contemporary art fair is packing the punch for its first time with site-specific program of talks, music and commissioned artist projects organized in collaboration with leading curators. The fair will also include a slew of celebrities and art world luminaries serving on its host committee such as Edythe and Eli Broad, Salema Hayek, Tobey Maguire, Serena Williams, and Dasha Zhukova according the Hollywood Reporter.

Frieze Los Angeles is led by Bettina Korek (Executive Director, Frieze Los Angeles) working with Victoria Siddall (Director, Frieze Fairs). Victoria Siddall said, “The extremely positive reaction to Frieze Los Angeles from galleries is testament to the importance of this city which is so rich in great artists, museums, galleries, and art schools. I am thrilled with the response we have had and the strength of the exhibitor list, which includes exceptional contemporary art galleries from around the world as well as leading established and emerging spaces from LA. The strong support of the museums and collectors of Los Angeles, as well as the entire Endeavor network, and our partner Deutsche Bank, promise to make the fair a great success in its first edition. All of this, along with the strong curatorial programming around the fair that Frieze is known for, will ensure that Frieze Los Angeles adds an exciting new dimension to the city’s thriving cultural scene.”

Bettina Korek added, “Frieze Los Angeles is poised to provide a pivotal annual moment for Los Angeles not only drawing an influx of new visitors but also stimulating civic engagement with the incredible array of artists, educators, galleries, museums and institutions that define Los Angeles’ cultural landscape. Los Angeles is already on the map, but it is long overdue to have its spot on the international art world calendar.”

The exhibitors have been selected by a committee of peers to represent a contemporary selection of the galleries and artists from Los Angeles, across the United States and around the world.
