Welcome to Element of Play® with Lois Kam Heymann, Worldwide Orphans

Learn about the principles and methods of Toy Libraries. Learn about Worldwide Orphans and the Element of Play® program and how one can bring a Toy Library to their community.

Lois Kam Heymann, M.A. CCC-SLP, is a Speech and Language Pathologist with over 30 years experience working with children with listening, language, hearing and learning challenges and their parents and teachers. She has developed and taught her programs for developing listening and language skills in children all over the world as well as in colleges and universities in the States. Her book, The Sound of Hope, a manual for developing the art of listening, has a forward by Rosie O’Donnell whose child was helped by her interventions.

Lois joined Worldwide Orphans (WWO) 3 years ago as a consultant in program development and training. In her role as Development and Training Specialist, Lois creates Element of Play programs and is responsible for training adults to facilitate play within the Toy Library program both domestically and internationally. Her focus is to engage adults (teachers, parents, caregivers, volunteers) in play in a way that will transfer to their appropriate and joyful engagement with children.
