The world of Willy Wonka\u00a0was a fictitious wonderland from the mind of Roald Dahl, but now we\u2019ve seen the next best thing \u2013 and the best part is that it\u2019s totally real! The magic is more than just a glimmer of hope in an ice cream lover\u2019s eye thanks to the Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC), where visitors can swim in a literal pool of (faux) sprinkles, swing on an ice cream sandwich and explore an immersive chocolate room.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right: this is not a drill. You can swim. In sprinkles.<\/p>\n

The museum pops up on July 29 at 100 Gansevoort Street, in NYC\u2019s Meatpacking District, and will remain there throughout the summer, until August 31. Admission to the interactive installation also includes edible balloons, a massive collaborative ice cream sundae and, of course, ice cream \u2013 including tastings of creations by food futurist Dr. Irwin Adam, and \u201cScoop of the Week\u201d ice cream creations by different New York shops like Black Tap and Oddfellows.<\/p>\n

Visual designs from NYC artists and designers \u201cwill serve as the cherry on top of this modern, whimsical urban ice cream playground,\u201d says MOIC Founder Maryellis Bunn. \u201cWe wanted featured artists to just go and create. We invited them to pursue anything that inspired them based on the vision for Museum of Ice Cream. Each of these talented individuals brings a unique voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

For instance, Apostrophe’s Base 12 artists (made famous by their lifetime ban<\/a> from Whitney Museum of Art) will each be a 16″ x 24″ painting that falls in line with the Museum\u2019s ice cream theme, and each will be displayed in a way that is specifically designed for the site.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Recognizing the potential for the Museum as the \u201cperfect first date spot,\u201d MOIC also partnered with Tinder, the popular dating app, to create \u201cTinder Land\u201d \u2013 because who wouldn\u2019t want to try out an ice cream scooper see-saw with their someone sweet?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
