Known for his romanticized paintings of aristocrats, no one would expect to see a Watteau that depicted the misery of war. But the Frick has provided just that, collecting a selection of Watteau’s earlier works which depict\u00a0the grueling and bleak war of the Spanish succession.<\/p>\n
