{"id":34892,"date":"2019-11-20T20:18:54","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T20:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artzealous.com\/?p=34892"},"modified":"2019-11-20T20:18:57","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T20:18:57","slug":"over-700-attend-artwalk-ny-to-benefit-homeless","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artzealous.com\/over-700-attend-artwalk-ny-to-benefit-homeless\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 700 Attend ArtWalk NY to Benefit Homeless"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Monday, November 18th, 2019 the\u00a025th annual <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"ARTWALK NY  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coalitionforthehomeless.org\/event\/artwalk-ny-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\">ARTWALK NY <\/a>took place at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Spring Studios (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.springstudios.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spring Studios<\/a> to benefit the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Coalition for the Homeless (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coalitionforthehomeless.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Coalition for the Homeless<\/a>.\u00a0The evening celebrated the role of \u201cartist-as-activist\u201d\u00a0in an effort to\u00a0raise\u00a0awareness about the issues of homelessness, poverty and social\u00a0injustice.\u00a0Presented by Italian fashion house\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/us.maxmara.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Max Mara (opens in a new tab)\">Max Mara<\/a>, the\u00a0evening honored the artistic achievements of\u00a0Katherine Bernhardt, philanthropic support of\u00a0Michael Platt\u00a0and\u00a0chaired by\u00a0Maria Giulia Maramotti.\u00a0The event was marked by one of the strongest attendances ever, with over\u00a0700 guests\u00a0coming together to support the Coalition for the Homeless in their ongoing fight for proven, humane and cost-effective solutions to mass homelessness.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" src=\"http:\/\/artzealous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/BFA_30257_4054695-e1574280627239.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34893\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artzealous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/BFA_30257_4054695-e1574280627239.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/artzealous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/BFA_30257_4054695-e1574280627239-454x303.jpg 454w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The remarkable turnout and high energy crowd made this a hugely successful event,\u201d said\u00a0David Giffen,\u00a0Executive Director of Coalition for the Homeless. \u201cIt was really moving to see so many compassionate New Yorkers come out to support our homeless neighbors.\u201d<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The charity auction saw every lot in the live auction sold. Notable highlights included the sale of Ed Ruscha\u2019s \u201cSays I, To Myself\u201d for $98,000<em>.\u00a0<\/em>In addition, Bernhardt\u00a0partnered with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Prospect (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prospectny.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Prospect<\/a> to created 150\u00a0limited edition dinner plates featuring Bernhardt\u2019s iconic work\u00a0<em>The Acrobatic Dance<\/em>. The plates were made specifically for the event and sold for $150 each. 20 plates hand-signed by Katherine Bernhardt were also auctioned off in the live auction for $1,000 each. The plates sold out within the first hour of the event.
