The Affordable Art Fair is turning 20 and will return to NYC’s Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea in just eight weeks time. With doors opening for its signature Private View on the evening of September 25, and the fair continuing from September 26 – 29, 74 local, national and international galleries will gather to showcase a range of original artworks from more than 400 emerging, mid-career and established artists. With two fair editions held annually, Affordable Art Fair NYC offers visitors a friendly atmosphere where they can browse contemporary paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints ranging from $100 to $10,000.

Local NYC staples will return and include Michele Mariaud Gallery, Uprise Art and Vietnamese Contemporary Fine Art, with new exhibitors – Kathryn Markel Fine Arts (New York, NY), RISE GALLERY (Tokyo, Japan), Emma Hack Gallery (Adelaide, Australia) and Bogota, Colombia-based artist collective Rat Trap — who will infuse freshness onto the pavilion walls.

Will Ramsay, Founder, says: “It’s been such an exciting journey, I’m blown away that 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the first Affordable Art Fair. I look around at the art market now and it is a different place! In the cities with an Affordable Art Fair and via our online marketplace, the stuffy art-market barriers are being broken down. People can see that you don’t have to be an expert or a squillionaire to buy art. Having played a part in this evolution is both humbling and a huge point of pride. Here’s to the next twenty years!”

The Affordable Art Fair has long helped to develop the art eco-system by being the conduit between contemporary artwork and art buyers. Introducing international galleries to new audiences and opening up emerging markets, such as Asia – showing how easy it is to own original contemporary art. It has proven to be a winning formula, with a loyal following of 600 galleries, many of whom have been with the fair us since the beginning, having sold over $487m worth of paintings, prints, photography and sculptures under $10,000. Not to mention that at the 2019 Hong Kong fair, a huge milestone was reached when the 500,000th artwork sale took place.
