Los Angeles, the city of sun, green juice and a fast growing art scene. It’s hard to believe that since 2016, over 50 galleries and over a dozen museums have opened up in Los Angeles. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that art fairs would follow suit. Enter Felix LA, a new invitation-only contemporary art fair taking place within the private suites and bungalows of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel from February 14-17, 2019. Felix LA will showcase a diverse selection of 38 forward-thinking exhibitors from across the globe, including galleries located in Europe, North America, China, South Africa and Australia.

What makes Felix LA different? Well, for starters it will allow galleries an efficient exhibition opportunity while offering the city’s collector-base intimate access and maximum flexibility. The informal setting will allow for more extended conversations among collectors, dealers, and artists alike.

Co-founded by Dean Valentine along with brothers Al Morán and Mills Morán, the fair’s name is inspired by one of Valentine’s favorite cartoon characters, Felix the Cat, and one of his favorite paintings, Paul Signac’s portrait of the 19th-century anarchist and art critic Felix Feneon.

“With Felix LA, we want to create an art fair that doesn’t feel like an art fair. Set in the stylish Hollywood Roosevelt, it’ll be more experimental, more communal, and more enjoyable. Our guests will have intimate, direct access to galleries and their artists, artworks at a wide range of price points, and to the pool,” said Valentine.
