The benefit raised an astounding\u00a0$2.5 million\u00a0for the museum&#8217;s year-round curatorial and educational programming.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The week kicked off on Wednesday, August 1, with\u00a0WineCrush\u00a0&#8211; a private cocktail and dinner party hosted in the Aspen home of\u00a0Event Chair Amy Phelan\u00a0and husband,\u00a0AAM board Chairman,\u00a0John Phelan.\u00a0<span class=\"m_9093801581808309258gmail-m_4380725714696774206gmail-aBn\"><span class=\"m_9093801581808309258gmail-m_4380725714696774206gmail-aQJ\">Thursday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0evening included a special\u00a0AAM Artist Talk\u00a0with AAM&#8217;s CEO and Director Heidi Zuckerman with Rashid Johnson, followed by\u00a0PreviewCrush\u00a0and\u00a0PreviewExt<wbr \/>ra, the auction preview hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baldwingallery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baldwin Gallery<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.casterlinegoodman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Casterline|Goodman Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the main event, which took place on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspensnowmass.com\/our-mountains\/buttermilk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buttermilk Mountain<\/a>, over 500 of the world\u2019s most distinguished and influential art collectors, artists, gallerists, museum professionals, and business leaders gathered to honor artist\u00a0Rashid Johnson\u00a0with the prestigious\u00a0Aspen Award for Art.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29698\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29698\" style=\"width: 689px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-29698\" src=\"http:\/\/artzealous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Amy-Phelan-Heidi-Zuckerman-Rashid-Johnson-e1533649564207.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"689\" height=\"517\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29698\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Amy Phelan, Heidi Zuckerman, Rashid Johnson<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Guests were greeted to silver curtains and mirror ball chandeliers highlighting STONEFOX\u2019s festive Cosmic Utopia theme, which continued throughout both the reception space and the glittering dinner tent. Attendees enjoyed wine tastings, dinner, and a silent and live auction led by Oliver Barker of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sothebys.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sotheby&#8217;s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the live auction and dinner concluded, guests made their way from the dinner tent to enjoy dessert stations featuring some of Rashid Johnson\u2019s favorite desserts, including donuts and pecan pie, and then onto shuttles to transport them to the evening\u2019s celebratory finale\u2014AfterPartyCrush held in partnership with Aspen\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bellyupaspen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BellyUp<\/a> nightclub.
