{"id":28523,"date":"2018-06-01T11:55:25","date_gmt":"2018-06-01T11:55:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artzealous.com\/?p=28523"},"modified":"2018-06-01T11:55:25","modified_gmt":"2018-06-01T11:55:25","slug":"nada-announces-first-off-site-exhibition-on-governors-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artzealous.com\/nada-announces-first-off-site-exhibition-on-governors-island\/","title":{"rendered":"NADA Announces First Off-Site Exhibition on Governors Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newartdealers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA)<\/a> is at it again with its unconventional\u00a0programming.\u00a0The non-profit arts organization announced this week the organization\u2019s first off-site exhibition,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newartdealers.org\/members\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Close Quarters<\/em><\/a>, featuring\u00a0eight NADA Member galleries\u00a0on Governors Island.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Open\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1706352344\"><span class=\"aQJ\">July 1\u201329<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0artwork will be displayed across two floors of a historic House 403 on Governors Island, and will be on view every weekend in July,\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1706352345\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0through\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1706352346\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Sunday<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1706352347\"><span class=\"aQJ\">11am-5pm. Close Quarters will be an incredible opportunity for NADA members and attendees to show and interact with artists on display in each room.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will feature artists\u00a0Michael Mahalchick\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadanewyork.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CANADA<\/a>, Asif Mian\u00a0of\u00a0False Flag,\u00a0Rainer Ganahl\u00a0of\u00a0Kai Matsumiya, Fabienne Lasserre\u00a0of\u00a0Safe Gallery, Jerry the Marble Faun\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.situations.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SITUATIONS<\/a>, Hayley Martell\u00a0and\u00a0Devin Morris of Signal, Johanna Unzueta\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/uvuvuv.com\/uv\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proyectos Ultravioleta<\/a>,\u00a0and\u00a0Jeff Williams\u00a0of\u00a0Jack Hanley Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPartnerships and public programming are essential to creating alternative platforms for NADA Members and their artists,\u201d said\u00a0Heather Hubbs, Executive Director of NADA. \u201cWe look forward to amplifying NADA\u2019s year-round programming by creating new opportunities to showcase contemporary art in fresh environments. It\u2019s a unique opportunity for NADA to organize a show on Governors Island, and we\u2019re excited to welcome visitors to this beautiful historic landmark, and to continue to collaborate with Governors Island in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Previously occupied by the Coast Guard,\u00a0House 403\u00a0served as the site of many of President Ronald Reagan\u2019s meetings with world leaders, including Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. The house is located within the Governors Island Historic District, by the New York City Landmarks and Preservation Commission.
