1. “Four Simultaneous Soloists”<\/a> A series of performances organized by David Grubbs at Pioneer Works<\/p>\n

In much the same way that Anthony McCall\u2019s solid light works when exhibited together are experienced individually and as a group, this series of musical performances scheduled to take place within the exhibition imagines four performers\u2014four soloists\u2014experienced individually or as an ensemble. For each performance, four musicians are dispersed equidistantly throughout Pioneer Works\u2019 130-foot main hall, each situated adjacent to a solid light piece. Musicians include: Susan Alcorn \u2013 Pedal Steel Guitar, Eli Keszler \u2013 Drums and Percussion, Tomeka Reid \u2013 Cello, Nate Wooley \u2013 Trumpet.\u00a0Pioneer Works, 159 Pioneer Street, Brooklyn,\u00a0NY\u00a011231<\/em><\/p>\n

3. Annie Vieux, Command Field Opening at The Hole<\/a><\/p>\n

The Hole will \u201cCommand Field,” a solo show of paintings and installation by\u00a0Anne Vieux. Vieux works in the great tradition of artists who use tools wrong. Innovation through misuse is a key part of how artists are responding to technology, and here the artist starts by confounding the CCD array of a scanner by training it on holographic paper. The light source of the scanner explodes the spectrum of the paper and the lens records an other-worldly topography of insane colors and shapes. On view through March 4.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents A New Carousel with Jack O’Brien and Justin Peck. The new production features choreography by New York City Ballet’s Justin Peck and direction by Jack O’Brien.
