There’s nothing better than a large cup of coffee to get your morning started — except for coffee and a dose of art, of course. In this city that never sleeps, there’s no shortage of coffee shops, so we’ve gathered a list of some of our favorite spots to visit to enjoy both coffee and art.

Inspired by Melbourne’s coffee culture, Bluestone Lane turns drinking coffee into an experience. With its vintage Australian newspapers, maps, and memorabilia, this coffee shop, located in a 1932 Art Deco high-rise, feels almost like a mini-museum. They’re known for their flat white; try pairing it with the salmon toast!

If you’re looking for a satisfying lunch and a quick dose of fun artwork, stop by Kaffe 1668 for a cold brew and one of their health-conscious sandwiches. This Scandinavian coffee shop is lined with little sheep that you can buy! They are handcrafted in Brooklyn with real, New Zealand wool and make the perfect gift or decoration for your coffee table.

With open mic events, stand-up comedy every Friday, and free community art classes, Postmark Cafe is a vibrant and creative space. Stop by to try a maple latte with a toasted bagel, and maybe even consider leaving a tip — they donate 100% of their tips to a different charity every month!

With six convenient locations around the city, there’s no reason for you not to visit MadMan Espresso. Most of its locations display artwork by NYC-based artists, like the one pictured above at their location in the Garment District. Their Greenwich Village store (54 University Place) also features new photography every week. They serve Caffe Vita, so we recommend a simple but classic Americano to fully enjoy the flavor.

5. Browny Coffee, 195-19 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY

This trendy coffee shop features interesting artwork by emerging artists and is well worth the trip to Queens. With plenty of seating, it’s the perfect backdrop for a study session with a cup of coffee (or several) and a doughnut, sourced daily from Dough Doughnuts.
