VOLTA NY<\/a> is the invitational fair of solo artist projects. It celebrates it\u2019s tenth anniversary this year with over 100 artists represented by galleries located in over 50 cities in 38 countries located on 5 continents. These are the artists that grabbed our attention.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 1. Faig Ahmed, Sapar Contemporary<\/a>, Booth C02<\/strong><\/p>\n Why?<\/strong> Azerbaijani artist Faig Ahmed\u2019s hand knotted \u201ccarpets\u201d each have a glitch in them in the most beautiful way.\u00a0His works reimagine ancient crafts and create new visual boundaries by deconstructing traditions and stereotypes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n 2. Lauren Fensterstock, Claire Oliver Gallery<\/a>, Booth D04<\/strong><\/p>\n Why?<\/strong> We have recently wrote\u00a0about Lauren Fenterstock\u2019s<\/a> elegant black mirrors and you must see them in person.\u00a0Fensterstock presents an opportunity to look out, beyond, and within.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n 3. Martin Klimas, Foley Gallery<\/a>, Booth C11<\/strong><\/p>\n Why?<\/strong> Martin Klimas\u2019 high speed photography of breaking ceramic figures are reminiscent of Muybridge. The photographs explore relationships with time, beauty and destruction. In his work with Porcelain, Klimas uses a strobe light and a single camera frame; one chance of the figurine dropping and shattering.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n
