{"id":15549,"date":"2017-02-14T14:03:28","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T14:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artzealous.com\/?p=15549"},"modified":"2017-02-14T14:03:28","modified_gmt":"2017-02-14T14:03:28","slug":"moma-takes-a-stand-against-immigration-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artzealous.com\/moma-takes-a-stand-against-immigration-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"MoMA Takes a Stand Against Immigration Ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) recently made a bold statement: in an act of protest against the recent travel ban ordered by President Trump, the museum displayed works by artists who are from the nations included in the ban.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s executive order prevents refugees and citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries \u2013 Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen \u2013 from entering the United States. Less than a week after the executive order on immigration was announced on January 27, seven works were installed in the Museum\u2019s fifth-floor galleries. Accompanying wall text states: \u201cThis is one of several such artworks from the museum\u2019s collection installed throughout the fifth floor galleries to affirm the ideals of welcome and freedom as vital to this museum as they are to the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Museum has scheduled a series of film screenings from directors affected by the travel ban as well.
