Prim will debut her latest series entitled Close To You. The series explore the intensity of both love and loss, sexuality and intimacy, the accessible and distant. By utilizing experimental methods of self-portraiture photography, the possible impermanence of experience is examined, often viewed from the vantage point of an uninvolved onlooker. Depicted moments in time once lived, the series represents photographed one-way conversations with Prim and herself wish to go both ways.

Works in the exhibition will include Polaroids from the photographer’s personal collection of prominent figures in the early downtown art scene, including Debby Harry, Keith Haring, and Andy Warhol. What is consciousness and does it exist outside of the human species? Mirror Tests or Mirror Self-Recognition Tests (MSR), study whether different animals can recognize their reflection in a mirror as themselves. If they recognize themselves, they are aware or have consciousness. Very few animals have this ability: chimpanzees, elephants, and dolphins do, while dogs and horses do not. Surprisingly Stingrays express this awareness.

Performance: Theo Bleckmann’s “Hello Earth!”

"Hello,
Photo // courtesy of Roulette

Curated by Meredith Monk, vocalist Theo Bleckmann takes on the mysterious songbook of British pop recluse Kate Bush. This project goes beyond merely re-creating Kate Bush’s music but taking it into other realms of sound and interpretation. Bush’s music is indeed mysterious and often enigmatic in nature: unusual song forms, oracular lyrics and unpredictable meter- and harmony-changes are an anomaly in pop music, making it the perfect vehicle for Bleckmann‘s distinctive, interpretive spirit and interest in the unusual.
