Joseph Gross Gallery officially opened ‘Refuge’ by artist Peter Gronquist – which is on view until July 2, 2016. Gronquist, who previously engaged in a more representational practice, will be exhibiting 13 new works including 10 large-scale paintings and three mixed media “mirrors” – each marked by the artists personal traumatic experience. In the works, figuration is replaced with abstraction and dominant narratives find a subtler, more contemplative voice within spare fields of color that evoke reflection.
