Patrick Graham at Jack Rutberg Fine Arts
Following its national museum tour, Jack Rutberg Fine Arts presents the exhibition “Patrick Graham – Thirty Years: The Silence Becomes the Painting” through August 31. Curated by the distinguished critic and art historian Peter Selz, former curator of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the founding Director of the University of California Berkeley Art Museum.
This is a rare opportunity to view the works of one of Ireland’s most influential contemporary artists who is recognized by his country as a “living national treasure” (member of Aosdana). The exhibition includes Graham’s iconic large-scale paintings and complex mixed media drawings, deeply rooted in the Irish landscape that hold personal and symbolic references combined with experiences of both oppression and repression. Patrick Graham’s psychologically-charged work journeys into revelation and transcendence.
