Mark Grotjahn at Blum & Poe

Blum & Poe is pleased to present Sign Exchange 1993-98, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Mark Grotjahn. This marks the artist’s eighth solo presentation with Blum & Poe. Sign Exchange 1993-98 offers a unique and lesser-known body of Grotjahn’s work from the 1990s — a grouping that documents a young artist’s developing practice as he turned away from figurative painting and the coded language of abstraction to explore the functionality and effective communication of hand-made store signs.
