“Latin America: Modern Art” at Sotheby’s New York

Sotheby’s is delighted to announce this season’s Latin America: Modern Art and Latin America: Contemporary Art auctions occurring November 22nd and 23rd in New York. Led by a powerhouse of Mexican artists, our modern art sale will include Sandias y naranja (1957) a vibrant still-life by Rufino Tamayo, a seminal Cubist landscape by Diego Rivera, and a charming early portrait by Frida Kahlo. Other key highlights include monumental works, both sculpture and painting, by Fernando Botero and wonderful examples by Cuban modernists Wifredo Lam and Mario Carreño. Immediately following this session, Latin America: Contemporary Art will offer outstanding works by leading Kinetic artists including: Jesús Rafael Soto and Carlos Cruz-Diez. A strong selection of Brazilian Concrete and Neo-Concrete artists including: Sergio Camargo, Lygia Pape, Helio Oiticica and Willys de Castro round out this dynamic sale.
