Kathryn Lynch, A View of One’s Own Part 2 at Sears-Peyton Gallery
New York, NY— In the second of Kathryn Lynch’s two-part exhibition A View of One’s Own, the artist’s gestural impressions of her experiences and environment in Red Hook, where she lives and works, paint New York’s busy industrialized waterway with freshness and intimacy. Lynch’s associative process of gathering impressions, memories, and feelings of her experiences (often while walking through the city) results in evocative paintings that experiment formally as they imbue everyday places and ordinary objects with a gentle poetic gravity. In these works, Lynch recollects and reinterprets the workaday world of Red Hook with her signature blend of painterly acumen, cultural allusion, and wit, offering it back to viewers with new resonance.
