‘In Focus: Electric!’ at the Getty Center

Electrical innovations have radically transformed the rhythm of our days and our experience of darkness. Although we often take electricity for granted until we are temporarily without it, photographers have long been attentive to its effects. Drawn from the Museum’s permanent collection, this exhibition highlights historic photographs that register the allure of artificial illumination, as well as more recent artworks that express unease about life tethered to the grid.
