Extremely absorbent and increasingly hollow

“Extremely absorbent and increasingly hollow” attends to the body’s permeability, addressing ideas of consumption, contamination, abundance, void and how value is perceived and assigned. Participating artists work across visual and live forms to investigate the ways in which certain things, when entangled with the body or stuck to the skin, are deemed unkempt, filthy, repulsive, or otherwise out of place. They complicate the notion of a discrete body as impervious to the unruly matter of the physical world and cultural signifiers of the social world.
