Dawn Kasper at Redling Fine Art

GOLDEN is an immersive and collaborative improvisational sound-based performance utilizing themes developed by Dawn Kasper in her recent work Star Formation, presented at the 2016 Seattle Art Fair.

DAWN KASPER is a New York (and sometimes Los Angeles) based interdisciplinary artist. Her work emerges from interests in existentialism, vulnerability, desire, process and the construction of meaning. She has been included in exhibitions at The Migros Museum, Zurich; Tramway, Glasgow; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; ADN Collection, Bolzano; Tang Museum, Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY; Issue Project Room, New York; the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Oregon; and the American Academy in Rome.

STAR FORMATION is a sculptural performance environment and improvised sound composition that includes motion-activated motors attached directly to a field of 80 cymbals on their stands. Kasper invites the audience to complete the work by moving through the installation. Each unique path through Star Formation creates an ever-changing musical composition.

Star Formation will be available for viewing in it’s entirety by appointment only from Thursday, October 21st–Sunday, October 23rd.
