Chiara Dynys: Insidious Beauty

Valli Art Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming solo exhibition, presenting a selection of work from internationally regarded multi-media artist, Chiara Dynys. Titled Insidious Beauty, Italian master Dynys is best known for disorienting experiential pieces derived from personal experience and natural phenomena. This will be the artist’s first solo show in America. Insidious Beauty will open November 3 through December 31, 2017 with a reception for the artist Friday November 3, 6-9 pm at 1924 North Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida. Light refreshments will be served and the artist will be in attendance.

Exploring reality, physicality, and the metaphysical, humanity and the variables of perception, Dynys has a long history using eclectic materials, from glass, resin, wax, marble, mirror, ceramics, metal castings, crystal, fabrics, video and photography. Focusing on light and its relationship to vision and space, Dynys reflects upon the body and its reaction to an immediate environment, constant change whether minor or unrecognizable, she encourages her viewer to rediscover their own physicality and mortality, and be altered.

In So Near So Far, Golden Cage and Look Afar, reflective steel and bronze behind gold leaf bars obstruct the viewer’s perspective and visibility, altering and refracting one’s body and the movement around the room, creating a disorienting and unrecognizable reflection..

“I often use the word passage to talk about my work. In fact, what is common to all my work is the sense of the crossing.”
