A Joyful Revelation: The Fauve Paintings of Georges Braque at the Barnes Foundation

The Barnes Foundation, in partnership with the American Federation of Arts (AFA), premieres the landmark exhibition A Joyful Revelation: The Fauve Paintings of Georges Braque on October 8, 2016. On view at the Barnes through January 9, 2017, the exhibition will then travel to the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas, and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec in Quebec City, Canada. Curated by Kenneth Wayne, an internationally recognized specialist in modern art and founder of the Modigliani Project, this exhibition and the accompanying catalogue are the first to be entirely devoted to the intense and prolific early portion of Braque’s career, when he was a member of the fauve group. With works from 1906 to 1907 drawn from museums and private collections around the world, the show brings together many of the artist’s most significant fauve paintings.
