On Thursday, Sept. 22, the opening of EXPO CHICAGO ushered in collectors and art lovers into Chicago’s cavernous Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.). The four-day event holds 145 leading international galleries, from Mexico City’s Marso Galería to Chicago’s Andrew Rafacz Gallery. Programming includes panel discussions (Sept. 24 cultural socialist Sarah Thornton and Chicago artist Kerry James Marshall), EXPO VIDEO showcase, performances (Amalie Jakobsen’s “Recursive Demarcation”), and more! The fair will be on view until Sunday, September 25.

If you can’t make it out the fair this weekend, next year promises an exciting showcase of collaboration and art. Thursday, President and Director of EXPO CHICAGO Tony Karman, announced an official partnership with Paris’ Palais de Tokyo and the Institut Français for a large-scale off-site exhibition in 2017. Featuring architecture-inspired new Parisian and American works, the exhibition will be curated by Palais de Tokyo’s Katell Jaffrès.
