Last night, IVY kicked off Art Basel 2016 at The Nautilus with an IVY Artist Talk with Zhou Yinghua aka Michael Chow of Mr. Chow fame, an in-depth discussion moderated by Bonnie Clearwater, Director and Chief Curator of the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. “Sharing his experience as a young artist and how the pressure of being the son of a renowned creative pushed him towards perfection and the discovery of his own talents,” Chow said, “Individuals have to seek their true path.”

A global cultural icon whose portrait has been captured by the likes of famed artists such as Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Ed Ruscha, and an acclaimed artist himself, Michael is a cultural ambassador whose mission is to bridge the East to the West who founded his first restaurant, MR CHOW, in 1968 in London.

After a nearly fifty-year sabbatical from his fine art practice, Michael recently returned to painting. Last year, his solo show, “Voice For My Father,” exhibited at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, followed by the Power Station Museum in Shanghai, and earlier this year at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
