Can makeup be art? Sure. But can art be makeup? Turns out it can. Urban Decay Cosmetics has teamed up with the estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat to launch UD x Jean-Michel Basquiat. Urban Decay is launching a 12-piece collection inspired by the contemporary artist who was pioneer of the neo-expressionist movement and died in 1988 at age 27. The limited-edition line will include blush, eyeliners, eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks and cosmetics bags.

Urban Decay said, “From the colors to the shade names to the packaging, EVERYTHING in this special-edition collaboration evolved from the work of groundbreaking artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Like Urban Decay, Jean-Michel Basquiat was an outsider who challenged the status quo and used color in nontraditional ways. From his informal graffiti work and the way he mixed mediums and colors to the way he spoke out against social injustice, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect fit for our brand.”

The Urban Decay x Jean-Michel Basquiat collection will be more affordable than his artwork ranging from $17 to $39. The collection is set to launch on April 20, and according to Urban Decay’s instagram, you’re going to want to buy ASAP because it will be “SERIOUSLY limited-edition collection.”
