Carl D’Alvia: “Endless” at Regina Rex and Nathalie Karg Gallery

Opening reception: Sunday, January 8th, 6-8pm

D’Alvia layers meanings and then suspends any conclusion about them. These objects, which have so much personality, are built as much from historical material and philosophical questions as they are from the traditional sculptor’s toolkit. So, what we have here is a complicated but very human kind of activity, one very much about appreciating life’s supposed contradictions and, rather than trying to resolve or ignore them, celebrating them in material form. And, so as not to end on too inappropriately serious a note, one should remember that spaghetti is erotic and delicious, bong hits sublime, and there is little more absurdly pleasurable than a floor full of leaning boxes.
