Frieze has officially kicked off the start of art fair season. During the next few months, some of the most anticipated art fairs of the year will be up and running again and we want to make sure that they are on your radar. Ever since the Salon de Paris in 1667, art fairs have been a driving force in artists’ careers. Art fairs not only host an intelligent and affluent audience, but they also inspire even the most uninformed visitor. So whether you’re an art connoisseur or a philistine, these 5 art fairs should be on your radar

 

1.TEFAF New York

When? October 22-26th, 2016

Where? Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Ave, New York, NY

This will be the first time that TEFAF’s debuts outside Europe and the fair will feature 94 of the world’s most illustrious dealers of fine art, design, furniture and jewelry from antiquity through the early 20th century. More information.

 

 

2. IFPDA Print Fair

When? November 3rd – 6th, 2016

Where? Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Ave, New York, NY

Celebrating their 25th anniversary, the International Art Fair for Prints & Editions will be showing a diversity of prints for view and acquisition starting November 3rd at the Park Avenue Armory. The Fair is not only known for its rare prints, but also for exciting new projects that are available for purchase in all price ranges. This year, 64 new projects will be exhibited publicly for the first time, so you won’t want to miss out! Tickets can be purchased in advance online.

 

 

3. Artissima

Where? Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 12 – 10123 Torino, Italia

The most important contemporary art fair in Italy will be held from November 4th to 6th at the Oval, a glass pavilion built for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino. Its reputation precedes it since it’s establishment in 1994, and it will now host 194 galleries from 35 different countries with over 2,000 works on display. Italy is famously known for its art scene ever since medieval times, and Artissima keeps the ball rolling by bringing together the best of contemporary art in Italy and around the world. Tickets can be purchased in advance online

 

 

4. Art021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair

When? November 10th – 13th, 2016

Where? Shanghai Exhibition Center, No. 1000, Yan An Middle Road, Shanghai, China

Art021 is a young player in the art fair game, but they’ve already managed to gain a respectable reputation as one of the most awaited art fairs around the world. Art021 will be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, taking place from November 10th to 13th. They will host a prestigious line-up of galleries and art organizations that make up the diverse and multicultural art scene in Shanghai. Tickets can be purchased at the venue for $150 RMB each (approx. $22 USD).

 

 

5. Abu Dhabi Art

When? November 16th – 19th, 2016

Where? Manarat Al Saadiyat, Saadiyat Cultural District, Sheikh Khalifa Hwy, Abu Dhabi

The interdisciplinary approach of the Abu Dhabi Art fair sheds light on the city’s “cultural intrigue and creative ambition”. Held this year from November 16th to 19th at the Manarat Al Saadiyat, the fair is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. One of the driving forces behind this year’s Abu Dhabi Art is the desire to understand the world around us; an ideal that should encourage anyone to attend this event that is unparalleled in the West. Access Card Registration for entry to the event will open online in October. 

 

 

6. Art Basel Miami Beach

Where? Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL

The crème de la crème of art fairs will be hosted once again at the Miami Beach Convention Center starting December 1st until December 4th. Art Basel brings together more than 4,000 artists represented by 269 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Tickets can be purchased at the venue, however it is suggested that you purchase them prior to the event on their Online Shop.
